I've ordered 3 kinds of tuna sashimi starting from akami, chutoro and otoro. started eating from akami and all the way up to otoro. you can feel the difference between akami till otoro.Unfortunately they don't have ama-ebi which is my favorite.Their Uni also superb and value for money compare to other Japanese restaurant. One of the best Japanese restaurant in Jakarta.

Great service. Super speedy and very courteous. This restaurant is our family's favorite for japanese food. Fish are always fresh and cut to perfection for their sashimi and sushi. The pondok indah branch have different and more complete menu than other kaihomaru branches. They serve amazing beef yakiniku for those who don't like raw fish.Very popular with Japanese expats and can be very crowded. Reservation is a must on weekends. Come on Tuesdays and Fridays when new fish are delivered.

One of authentic japanese restaurant in a hidden place in Pondok Indah. It is located in Pondok Indah Apartment.They have a very nice and fresh raw fish. The sashimi and sushi platters are irresistable. Other menus are unique and may not be found else where, like they have squid tentacle tempura (but they don't serve ika tempura). We also ordered chicken karaage, beef teriyaki, softsheel sushi, udon, japanese fried noodle and others. Unfortunately the hungry participants today were faster than my photography skills.. :)Dessert is limited to ice cream and mochi ice cream. Too bad, during busy hours the waitresses were confused and their product knowledge should be improved. Other than that, we're satisfy customers.

One way to judge the authenticity of a restaurant is to examine the amount of common ethnics dining there.  The majority of Kaihomaru's customers is Japanese expats, not because Pondok Indah's Apartment is mostly vacated by them but due to the fact that Kaihomaru's  dishes are actually authentic. I've been here plenty of times and always tried different things from the fresh sushi to the crispy delicious tempura which none have disappoint.  The only complain I have would probably be their messy unsystematic menu.

One of the authentic Japanese restaurant in Jakarta, yang menandakan adalah setiap saya makan di Kaihomaru 75-80% tamunya orang Jepang. Bahkan hari ini saya dan istri saya satu2nya yang bukan orang Jepang. Cukup dengan intro saya akan membahas makanan. Sashimi adalah yang menjadi inceran saya dan istri saya bila makan di tempat ini karena ikan2nya selalu fresh. Hiyayako adalah appetiser favorit saya - Tahu dingin dan dimakan dengan kecap asin dan kondimen seperti daun bawang dll. Udong mereka juga menarik karena buatan sendiri, bisa kita nikmati yang panas atau dingin. Biarpun harga lumayan mahal dengan kwalitas makanan yang kita dapat spandan. Sudah menjadi tempat langganan saya bila di daerah pondok indah.

The restaurant style is rather family oriented and informal, which is one of the reasons why we love to come here. Don't be fooled by the modest interior as the food quality of these traditional Japanese dishes is excellent, for very good prices. In Europe/ UK you would never find this level of...

I have heard so much about Kaihomaru, spoken highly by friends who like Japanese food, especially sushi & sashimi, and I didn't realise they have a branch in Pondok Indah. A friend went there once and liked it, and we both decided to go for dinner last night (2 Jan'17), since I have never been. We ordered salmon and salmon belly sashimi - which was pretty good though I had expected a little better.  Next, we ordered a platter of sushi, and when it came out, we saw how 'gloomy' the plate looked like; it didn't look appetizing with one of the tuna sushi had the fish a little crooked (not in good cut), and the ebi sushi looked overcooked. We were very disappointed with the sushi platter, we didn't finish half of the platter (about 7 pieces left). I asked the waitress about it, if the fish are fresh - and was given the answer that "No, because we get our fish on Tuesday and Friday." Uh, right. I wasn't sure what to respond to that, so I didn't say anything. We spent about IDR720K, and I was really , really disappointed. I had expected so much from this restaurant. Having said that, it appears the Melawai and Sudirman branches seem to receive better rating and reviews, so I don't know if this is an issue at this branch, or something else. But I don't think I'll be coming back again there.  :( Sorry, I don't usually like putting a negative review, but I was really disappointed with the food last night and I think the management should know so they can improve on this. That, or we were simply unlucky last night and got a bad batch of fish.

Kesini utk dinner sekitar jam 7 di weekend..Service & ambiance:Service malas2an & kondisi restoran sangat berminyak..meja & lantai minyakan + bau minyak di udara..disgusting..akhir2 saya baru tw ternyata pd waktu istirahat, resto ini di book penuh jd mungkin waiter kecapean + gak sempat bersih2 restonya..well, still its not giving me a good impression especially after my friend recommended it to me..Food:- Dashimaki tamago: high expectation for this one..looks amazing, tp rasanya sgt average..i would say its quite bland..asin engga, manis engga..- Mentaiko onigiri: i don't like the rice at all..looks & taste cheap..just a tiny2 bit of mentaiko di luar & dlm..nasi hancur & gak spt nasi jepang.- Chasoba: standar..paling enak drpd yg lain..disajikan dingin..- California roll: just so average..- Wakadori karaage: its very juicy, but lack of taste.- Mocchi ice cream (maccha mint): its good..bs dibilang termasuk just slightly sweet..mint gak kenceng tp refreshing..Overall:Service + pajak around 20%..dr service & kondisi resto yg saya alami sgt gak sesuai..i expect more since people bilang ini authentic..honestly its not at all..its nothing like what i tasted in japan..memang byk orang jepang antri utk mkn disini, but idk its so dissapointing for me :( pricewise memang gak mahal, tp idk the taste just doesnt sastified me well.. :/ would not come back again.

First time I rate this low. Let me begin:Visited yesterday night, because my family wants to celebrate my wife's birthday with dinner. So we went to Pondok Indah Golf Apartment Tower 3, where it is located.- Interior:Not much effort here from them. Lots of room but basically only table and chair. It feels like going into unfurnished apartment room. Except the enterance, nothing Japanese about this place.- Food and DrinksWe ordered boat of sashimi, sushis, couple of soups which are okay. The reason why I still give point to this place. Me and wife have been to plenty sushi joint including few on Japan itself. Nothing stands out here. Other than they keep saying (like we are deaf), that they are out of Una. Only Sapporo and Bintang for beer. Their sake is alright too.- ServiceNothing Japanese about the service. Only the fact they yell something Japanese on our way in, doesn't mean it is good Japanese service. Waitresses are rude and give funny looks when we ask about something we don't understand on the menu. Never check on costumers, so we need to stand and call them everytime we need to add food or drinks. Meanwhile, the just talk to each other, leaning on the walls, with no jobs. Such an embarrasement. Don't get me start on the uniform. Go-Go bars waitreses should wear that, not classy japanese sushi joint.Bad experience and will never comes back

Best sushi I've had in Jakarta. They get fresh fish from Japan twice a week. They also do a range of cooked fish as well as noodle dishes. Would be better if they turned the TV off.
