Hello, website Users!Today, I will be reviewing The Duck King located at Mall Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, based on my visit in August 2019.FOOD 8/10Butter Pao: this one is unique to this restaurant since I have never find it anywhere else. Crystal Jade Bakery (now closed in Jakarta) used to sell something similar with chicken/pork filling called bo lo bun if I'm not mistaken. But this one is different because it is filled only with butter, also you can smell the yeast of the bun which I dislike, however the taste is quite good and it is served warm.Duck Noodle Dry: this one I quite like, not the best duck and not the best noodle but both of them combined with some side veggie added create an enjoyable plate.Additional info: I have been dining here several times recently for the dim sum which is enjoyable for tea time. Most of the dim sums I ordered are good be it sweet or savory. Recommended to try their siew mai and pastry with red bean filling. Their juice is very pure.SERVICE 8/10Good service, attentive and fast. Their standard is very acceptable for Chinese restaurant category.AMBIANCE 8/10Franchise style, unintimidating and warm. Clean with a slightly dim lighting. The Duck King is a Chinese restaurant which provides a choice of a variety of menus, from traditional dim sum, roasted meat, to seafood cooked in many ways. They serve up so much variety that their menu book is so large and thick! The last time I ate here was in December 2016, so I was interested to see if they managed to maintain the quality of food.Food:1. Tim Hakau (IDR 32.8K): I used to love Duck King’s dim sum, but while the hakau did taste yummy, I remember how it tasted even better in the past.2. Cha siew ayam dengan nasi hainam (IDR 46K): The Duck King is one of the rare Chinese restaurants that serves chicken char siew in Jakarta. Usually, other restaurants would use pork as the meat. Their portion size is good and they are generous with the meat. The taste is delicious, but again, I felt that it didn’t taste as good as during my previous visit.3. Bebek panggang dengan nasi hainam (IDR 52K): The Duck King is renowned for its duck and it is for good reason. They do roast duck extremely well and manage to achieve a crispy skin. However, what I’m disappointed about is that they leave huge chunks of bones on every slice of meat. I don’t understand this since in other restaurants, they would usually leave no or only small amount of bones. 4. Pangsit udang goreng mayonnaise (IDR 32.8K): Once again, good tasting dimsum, but not great.Service:The male waiters who served us were kind of sluggish and a bit slow. One of them also forgot to put in our shrimp dumpling order, which is unfortunate.Price:I think the price is reasonable if you choose the rice sets like I did. Food court meals are not that cheap now, so the price here can compete well with them. However, if you are looking for fancier meals, especially if you want the seafood, you need to pay relatively more. Overall, like I said, the food doesn’t live up to the expectations I had. But, the taste is still relatively good enough to try.

Mungkin dari semua outlet duck king, outlet di sini doank yang gw acungin jempol. Cuma disini yang pelayanannya super ramah n humble, n helpful. Untuk makanan smua orang udah tau, bebeknya duck king paling juara, selalu jadi fav gw stiap kali makan ksini. Untuk dim sum paling enak bakpao telor asin sama chichongfan nya.

Actually, i already ate several times at this place but didn't aware that i hadn't review it yet. So forget about my past experience and start with the latest one. This time, i just ate their dimsum :1. Xiao long bao --> found 1 pieces which already lost it broth coz the dumpling was torn. The other 3 still ok. The dumpling outer part was a bit hard and thick which i don't really like. The broth was too little, may be because of the small size. And i didn't remember the taste of the filling. So, i didn't really enjoy it2. Lumpia udang mayonaise --> love it coz i can taste the shrimp and it was juicy inside and crunchy outside3. Fried wanton --> the upper part of wonton was a bit hard coz thicker layer and the filling was taste so so4. Hakau --> love it, the dumpling was soft and shrimp was juicy5. Lo mai kai --> the glutinous rice was too soft, maybe because they steam it too long, taste so so6. Kue lobak cah telur dg saus XO --> a bit over cooked for my taste, but still okSo, overall it just ok for my taste. Still can find nice dimsum but for some other were average.
